Indonesia's manufacturing sector recovered in September, results of a survey by Markit Economics and HSBC Bank showed Wednesday.
The HSBC purchasing managers' index, or PMI, for the manufacturing sector rebounded to 50.7 in September from 49.5 in August. This marked expansion in manufacturing activity after the contraction in the previous month.
A reading above 50 signals expansion.
Manufacturing production increased in September following a decline in August. New orders also rose at a solid rate.
However, employment levels decreased for the second consecutive month and the rate of decline was fastest since March.
Input costs and output prices continues to rise at a faster pace in September. But, price pressures remained muted in the context of historical data.
