The PBOC set the midpoint rate weaker at 6.1420 per dollar on Monday, up from 6.1387 per dollar at the previous fix. The spot rate was at 6.1244, steady from Friday's close.
Since the government seems determined to stimulate the economy, it is possible that the PBOC will announce further easing steps.
This means that the Chinese currency will continue to remain under pressure.
The prospect of further dollar strength should also boost USD/CNY.
