At 7:00 am ET Thursday, the Bank of England announces its monetary policy decision. The bank is set to keep its interest rate at a record low 0.50 percent and the asset purchase plan at GBP 375 billion.

Ahead of the announcement, the pound exhibited mixed trading against the other major currencies. While the pound rose against the franc and the euro, it held steady against the greenback and the yen.

The pound was valued at 1.4134 against the greenback, 147.42 against the yen, 1.3644 against the franc and 0.7934 against the euro at 6:55 am ET.
