The manufacturing sector in Japan continued to contract in June, albeit at a slower pace, the latest survey from Nikkei showed on Friday with a manufacturing PMI score of 48.1.
That's up from 47.7 in May, although it remains well beneath the boom-or-bust line of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.
It's also the fourth straight month of contraction.
Individually, total new orders declined, led by a sharp drop in export orders.
Employment growth slowed, while input buying fell at the fast rate in 26 months.
