The German Ifo index for the month of May is set to come out on Tuesday. The business confidence figures, along with the release of the Ifo business climate, expectations and current assessment indices would give a scenario of the German economy.

The business climate index has been rebounding since the beginning of 2017, whereas the expectations index decelerated slightly in April after the rise seen in the first quarter of this year. In the meantime, the current assessment index has been rebounding since August 2016. According to consensus expectations, the business climate and expectations figures are both improving, while a lower reading for the current assessment component of the index is expected.

Meanwhile the GfK consumer sentiment index has been hovering at 10 for over a year; however, it reached a high of 10.2 in May. Consensus expects the index to remain at that level in June.
