Despite some talks of reconciliations and indications of diplomatic efforts, the war rhetoric in the Korean peninsula is running high. The North Korean regime under Kim Jong Un has continued to test short and long-range missiles defying global pressure to stand down including one from its closest partner, China. President Donald Trump has made making stability in the Korean Peninsula as a top priority in his foreign policy. While he has not ruled out diplomatic efforts including speaking to the North Korean leader, he has sent a US armada in the region. As of now, there are nuclear-powered submarines in the region along with two aircraft carriers and a third aircraft carrier is heading towards the region.

Over the weekend, North Korea staged a third missile test in three weeks. After two successful launches in the past two weeks, North Korea tested a short-range missile over the weekend. The missile flew 450 km and landed in the Sea of Japan, 200-300 km off the coast of Japan. After strong rhetoric from President Trump, North Korea has increased its military activities. So far it has test fired 12 missiles.
