Taiwan central bank left its key interest rate unchanged on Thursday, as widely expected, for the fourth consecutive quarterly meeting.
The central bank kept the discount rate at 1.375 percent.
Gareth Leather, an economist at Capital Economics, said rate cuts are not needed to support the economy, which is enjoying a strong export-led recovery.
He said the bank is likely to keep interest rates unchanged not just until the end of this year, but throughout 2018 as well.
