The unemployment rate in Japan came in at a seasonally adjusted 2.8 percent in June, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications said on Friday.
That was beneath expectations for 3.0 percent and down from 3.1 percent in May.
The job-to-applicant ratio came in at 1.51 - in line with forecasts and up from 1.49 in the previous month.
The participation rate came in at 61.0, up from 60.8 a month earlier.
