A report released by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York on Tuesday showed much stronger than expected growth in regional manufacturing activity in the month of August.
The New York Fed said its general business conditions index jumped to 25.2 in August from 9.8 in July, with a positive reading indicating growth in regional manufacturing activity. The index had been expected to inch up to 10.0
