The U.S. housing starts data for July will be issued at 8.30 am ET Wednesday. The economists are looking for consensus of 1.225 million, up from 1.215 million last month.
Ahead of the data, the greenback held steady against its major rivals.
The greenback was worth 1.1711 against the euro, 110.83 against the yen, 0.9741 against the franc and 1.2870 against the pound as of 8:25 am ET.
