The U.S. jobless claims for the week ended September 2 will be published at 8.30 am ET Thursday. The economists are looking for new claims consensus of 241K, up from the 236K in the previous week.
Ahead of the data, the greenback held steady against its major rivals.
The greenback was worth 1.1972 against the euro, 108.85 against the yen, 0.9529 against the franc and 1.3094 against the pound as of 8:25 am ET.
