Romania's industrial production grew sharply in July from a year ago, figures from the National Institute of Statistics showed Tuesday.

Industrial production expanded a seasonally and working-day-adjusted 8.2 percent year-over-year in July.

Among sectors, manufacturing output advanced the most by 8.1 percent annually in July, followed by mining and quarrying production with 5.6 percent rise. Meanwhile, electricity output dropped 0.3 percent.

Without adjustment, industrial production registered a yearly growth of 7.4 percent.

On a monthly basis, industrial production declined 1.5 percent in July.
