Eurozone employment grew at a slightly slower pace in the second quarter, Eurostat reported Wednesday.
Employment increased 0.4 percent sequentially in the second quarter, following a 0.5 percent rise in the first quarter.
Year-on-year, employment growth stabilized at 1.6 percent.
In the second quarter, there were 155.6 million employed people in the euro area. This was the highest level on record.
Employment in the EU28 increased 0.4 percent on quarter and advanced 1.5 percent annually.
Among member states, Malta, Spain, Greece and Poland reported the highest increases compared with the previous quarter. In contrast, decreases in employment were observed in Croatia, Latvia, Romania and Estonia.
