Turkey's unemployment rate held steady in June, defying economists' expectations for an increase, data from the Turkish Statistical Institute showed Friday.
The jobless rate came in at 10.2 percent in June, the same rate as in May, which was the lowest level since May 2016, when the rate was 9.4 percent.
Meanwhile, the rate was expected to rise to 10.4 percent.
The number of unemployed increased to 3.25 million from 3.13 million in the previous year.
The youth unemployment rate that applies to 15-24 age group, rose to 20.6 percent from 19.4 percent in the previous year.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the overall unemployment rate was 11.1 percent in June versus 11.3 percent in May.
