Taiwan's industrial production expanded for the fourth straight month in August, and at a faster-than-expected pace, preliminary data from the Ministry of Economic Affairs showed Friday.
Industrial production climbed 3.25 percent year-over-year in August, faster than the 2.08 percent rise in July. That was also well above the 1.85 percent increase economists had expected.
Among sectors, manufacturing production grew 4.03 percent annually in August, while mining and quarrying output dropped slightly by 0.18 percent.
On a monthly basis, industrial production rebounded a seasonally adjusted 2.27 percent from July, when it decreased by 0.34 percent.
