Spain's retail sales grew at a faster pace in August, figures from the statistical office INE showed Thursday.
Retail sales advanced by adjusted 1.6 percent year-on-year in August, faster than the 1.2 percent increase seen a month ago. Sales were forecast to grow 2 percent.
At the same time, annual growth in unadjusted retail sales accelerated to 1.7 percent from 1 percent.
On a monthly basis, retail sales grew 0.1 percent, recovering from a 0.4 percent fall in July. Food sales remained flat and non-food store sales climbed 0.4 percent.
