At 5.00 am ET Friday, Eurostat releases euro area flash inflation figures. Economists expect inflation to rise slightly to 1.6 percent in September from 1.5 percent in August.
Ahead of the data, the euro traded mixed against its major rivals. While the euro rose against the pound and the franc, it held steady against the yen and the greenback.
The euro was worth 132.77 against the yen, 1.1453 against the franc, 0.8816 against the pound and 1.1796 against the greenback as of 4:55 am ET.
