Germany's producer prices increased at the fastest pace in five months in September, data from Destatis showed Friday.
Producer price inflation rose more-than-expected to 3.1 percent in September from 2.6 percent in August. This was the fastest increase since April, when prices advanced 3.4 percent. Economists had forecast a 2.9 percent rise for September.
Prices of non-durable consumer goods climbed 3.4 percent and prices of intermediate goods by 3.6 percent.
Energy prices advanced 4.6 percent and prices of durable consumer goods and capital goods increased each by 1.1 percent.
Excluding energy, producer prices climbed 2.6 percent in September.
Month-on-month, producer price inflation rose slightly to 0.3 percent from 0.2 percent in August. Prices were expected to gain 0.1 percent.
