The National Association of Realtors' Existing Home Sales for September will be issued at 10.00 am ET Friday. The economists are looking for consensus of 5.300 million, slightly down from 5.350 million in the previous month.

Ahead of the data, the greenback traded mixed against its major rivals. While the greenback rose against the yen and the euro, it held steady against the franc and the pound.

The greenback was worth 113.42 against the yen, 0.9827 against the franc, 1.1793 against the euro and 1.3166 against the pound as of 9:55 am ET.
