South Korea's consumer price inflation eased at a faster-than-expected pace in October, figures from Statistics Korea showed Wednesday.
The consumer price index climbed 1.8 percent year-over-year in October, slower than September's 2.1 percent rise. Economists had expected the inflation to ease to 1.9 percent.
Excluding food and energy, core inflation accelerated from 1.4 percent to 1.6 percent.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages grew 1.8 percent annually in October and transport costs went up by 3.6 percent.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged down 0.2 percent from September, when it increased by 0.1 percent. Meanwhile, prices expected to remain flat.
