Taiwan's unemployment rate decreased for the third straight month in October, though marginally, data from the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics, or DGBAS, showed Wednesday.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate edged down to 3.69 percent in October from 3.71 percent in September. Economists had expected the rate to fall to 3.70 percent.
The number of unemployed people declined to 436,000 in October from 437,000 in the preceding month. A year ago, the jobless figure totaled 456,000.
The labor force participation rate was 58.86 percent in October, up from 58.82 percent in September.
On an unadjusted basis, the unemployment rate dropped to 3.75 percent in October from 3.77 percent in the prior month.
