Jean Arnault, head of the United Nations Mission in Colombia, traveled to Quito, Ecuador on Monday to meet with the negotiators of the National Liberation Army (ELN) and the Colombian government.
According to Radio Caracol, Arnault wants to assess the current stage of the peace talks between the guerrilla and the government. Arnault is scheduled to meet separately with both delegations, first with the ELN and then with the government.
On February 8, both parties launched peace talks in Quito amid bilateral tensions. So far, the greatest achievement has been the ceasefire that came into force on October 1.
