The Argentinean state-owned oil company YPF launched the operations in the Loma Campana Thermal Power Plant, which is located in the Vaca Muerta field.
The new thermal power plant required an investment of around US$ 200 million. It has two turbines, with the capacity to generate 110 megawatts (MW) each.
The thermal power plant will add value to the gas when it is processed to obtain electric power, said the Argentinean government.
Currently, YPF Energ?a El?ctrica operates around 1,800 MW, but plans to double its capacity in the coming years with an investment of more than US$ 1.3 billion.
