At 3.55 am ET Thursday, unemployment data from Germany is due. The number of unemployed is forecast to fall 15,000 in March after decreasing 22,000 in February.
Ahead of the data, the euro retreated from early highs against its major rivals.
The euro was worth 131.14 against the yen, 1.1778 against the franc, 1.2300 against the greenback and 0.8754 against the pound as of 3:50 am ET.
