Flat steel sales in Brazil rose 3.4% in March 2018 compared to the same period in 2017, reaching 262.9 thousand tons, said the country's Institute of Steel Distributors (INDA). Compared to the previous month, there was a 1.2% increase.

Meanwhile, flat steel purchases fell 1.3% in March compared to the same month of 2017, reaching 283.7 thousand tons. Over February, however, there was a 10% increase.

Inventories in March increased 2.4% over February, reaching 887.3 thousand tons, while inventories' turnover rose to 3.4 months.

Imports increased 12.3% over March 2017, to 123,6 thousand tons. Over February, imports more than doubled, rising 103.2%.

For April, INDA expects a 10% drop in both sales and purchases.
