South Africa's producer price inflation eased further in march to the lowest level in eight months, figures from Statistics South Africa showed Thursday.

Producer prices climbed 3.7 percent year-over-year in March, slower than the 4.2 percent rise in February.

Moreover, this was the weakest PPI Inflation since July last year, when prices had grown 3.6 percent.

The overall PPI Inflation was mainly driven by a 1.2 percent rise in prices of coke, petroleum, chemical, rubber and plastic products.

On a monthly basis, producer prices decreased 0.2 percent at the end of the first quarter.
