The total volume of credit operations in Brazil's financial system rose 0.5% from April to May, totaling R$ 3.107 trillion (US$ 823.7 billion), according to the country's Central Bank.
The volume of credit in May was equivalent to 46.6% of the Brazilian Gross Domestic Product (GDP), stable in comparison to April.
Loans to individuals totaled R$ 1.687 trillion, up 0.6% on a monthly basis. Business operations totaled R$ 1.420 trillion, up 0.5% between April and May.
