Brazil's Via Varejo's net income totaled R$ 20 million in the second quarter of 2018, after a loss of R$ 85 million a year earlier. The company's net revenue increased 5.1% on the same comparison basis, to R$ 6.462 billion.
Via Varejo is a company of the Grupo P?o de A??car that owns the retailers Casas Bahia, PontoFrio, and Bartira.
Revenue from physical stores increased 6.5% to R$ 5.249 billion, while revenue from online sales fell 0.3% to R$ 1.213 billion.
Via Varejo's EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) increased 124.3% in the second quarter compared to the same period last year to R$ 332.0 million. The EBITDA margin increased 2.7 percentage points, to 5.1%.
Sales in the same store segment - units opened for at least one year - increased by 5.8% in the second quarter of 2018 compared to the same period of the previous year.
