Industrial output in Japan was down 1.2 percent on year in June, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said on Tuesday.
That missed forecasts for an increase of 0.6 percent following the 4.2 percent jump in the previous month.
On a monthly basis, industrial production skidded 2.1 percent - again missing forecasts for a decline of 0.3 percent following the 0.2 percent drop in May.
