Taiwan's unemployment rate increased less than expected in July, the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics, or DGBAS, reported Wednesday.
The seasonally adjusted jobless rate edged up to 3.69 percent in July from 3.68 percent in June. The rate was expected to rise to 3.70 percent.
In the corresponding month last year, the unemployment rate was 3.76 percent.
The number of unemployed rose to 439,000 in July from 437,000 in the preceding month.
The labor force participation rate climbed to 59.0 percent in July from 58.97 percent a month ago.
On an unadjusted basis, the jobless rate for July was 3.81 percent, up from 3.70 percent in June.
