Malaysia's consumer price inflation rose marginally in July on transport and utility charges, the Department of Statistics reported Friday.
Inflation edged up to 0.9 percent from 0.8 percent in June. The annual rate came in line with expectations.
The increase was driven by a 6.7 percent rise in transport cost and a 2 percent increase in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels.
Meanwhile, core inflation decreased 0.2 percent in July after an increase of 0.1 percent in June.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices advanced 0.2 percent. During January to July period, consumer prices logged an increase of 1.4 percent from the same period of last year.
