South Korea's consumer price inflation eased marginally in August after remaining stable in the previous month, figures from Statistics Korea showed Tuesday.
The consumer price index climbed 1.4 percent year-over-year in August, just below the 1.5 percent rise in July. That was in line with economists' expectations.
Excluding food and energy, core inflation remained stable at 1.0 percent.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages grew 3.0 percent annually in August and transport costs rose up by 4.6 percent.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased 0.5 percent from July, when it edged up by 0.2 percent. Prices were expected to rise by 0.4 percent.
