Switzerland's unemployment rate dropped marginally in September, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs reported Monday.

The unemployment rate dropped to a seasonally adjusted 2.5 percent in September from 2.6 percent in August. The rate matched economists' expectations.

On an unadjusted basis, the jobless rate remained stable at 2.4 percent in September.

At the end of September, the number of registered unemployed decreased by 1,307 to 106,586.

Data showed that the unemployment rate among youth aged between 15 and 24, came in at 2.5 percent in September versus 2.6 percent in the previous month.
