Wage prices in Australia were up a seasonally adjusted 0.6 percent on quarter in the third quarter of 2018, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Wednesday. That was in line with expectations and unchanged from the three months prior.

Private sector wages added 0.5 percent on quarter, while public sector wages gained 0.6 percent.

The highest index rise at an industry level was in accommodation and food services (1.9 percent) and the lowest in finance and insurance services (0.4 percent).

On a yearly basis, wage prices climbed 2.3 percent - again matching forecasts and up from 2.1 percent in the second quarter.

Rises through the year at the industry level ranged from 1.8 percent for mining and retail trade to 2.8 percent for health care and social assistance.
