The Office for National Statistics is set to release the UK retail sales data for October at 4.30 am ET Thursday. Sales excluding auto fuel are expected to rise 0.2 percent after a 0.8 percent fall in September.
Ahead of the data, the pound dropped against its major counterparts.
The pound was worth 1.2846 against the greenback, 0.8814 against the euro, 1.2905 against the franc and 145.57 against the yen as of 4:25 am ET.
