At 4:00 am ET Tuesday, Germany's Ifo institute will release its business sentiment index for December.
Ahead of the data, the euro rose against its major counterparts.
The euro was worth 1.1370 against the greenback, 127.86 against the yen, 1.1280 against the franc and 0.8993 against the pound as of 3:55 am ET.
