At 8:30 am ET Tuesday, U.S. housing starts and building permits for December are due. Ahead of the data, the greenback traded mixed against its major counterparts. While the greenback rose against the franc and the yen, it held steady against the euro and the franc.
The greenback was worth 110.83 against the yen, 1.0010 against the franc, 1.3200 against the pound and 1.1359 against the euro as of 8:25 am ET.
