Turkey's unemployment rate increased in February, the Turkish Statistical Institute reported Wednesday.

The jobless rate rose to a seasonally adjusted 13.6 percent from 13.3 percent in January. In the same period last year, the unemployment rate was 9.8 percent.

On an unadjusted basis, the unemployment rate held steady at 14.7 percent compared to January.

The unemployment rate among youth aged below 24 surged to unadjusted 26.1 percent from 19.0 percent in the same period last year. The seasonally adjusted rate was 24.8 percent.
