At 5.00 am ET Tuesday, Germany's ZEW economic confidence survey results are due. The economic confidence index is forecast to rise sharply to -3.5 in September from -44.1 in August.
Ahead of the data, the euro rose against its major counterparts.
The euro was worth 119.17 against the yen, 1.0953 against the franc, 1.1015 against the greenback and 0.8875 against the pound as of 4:55 am ET.
