The Statistics Canada will release Canadian trade data for August at 8:30 am ET Friday. Ahead of the data, the loonie rose against its major counterparts.
The loonie was worth 80.23 against the yen, 0.8994 against the aussie, 1.3308 against the greenback and 1.4602 against the euro at 8:25 am ET.
