India's wholesale price inflation slowed in September, data from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry showed on Monday.

The wholesale price index climbed 0.33 percent year-on-year in September, after a 1.08 percent rise in August. Economists had expected a 0.84 percent increase.

Build up inflation was 1.17 percent in September compared to 3.96 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Food inflation eased to 7.47 percent in September and those of non-food articles came in at 2.18 percent.

Meanwhile, fuel and power prices decreased 7.05 percent in September and prices of manufactured products dropped 0.42 percent.

On a monthly basis, wholesale prices declined 0.1 percent in September.
