Malaysia's industrial production growth remained stable in September, data from the Department of Statistics showed on Monday.

Industrial production rose 1.7 percent year-on-year in September, the same rate as seen in August. That was in line with economists' expectation.

Manufacturing output growth slowed to 2.5 percent from 3.6 percent in the previous month.

Among other sectors, electricity output gained 4.1 percent annually in September, while mining and quarrying output dropped 1.6 percent.

On a monthly basis, industrial production fell 0.3 percent in September, after a 0.8 percent increase in the previous month.

Separate data from the Department of Statistics showed that the jobless rate remained unchanged at 3.3 percent in September.

The number of unemployed persons rose to 521,400 in September from 520,200 persons in the prior month.
