Malaysia's industrial production growth slowed in October driven by the weakness in mining, data from the Department of Statistics showed on Thursday.
Industrial production rose 0.3 percent year-on-year in October, slower than 1.7 percent increase in September. Economists had expected a 2.0 percent growth.
Manufacturing output growth slowed to 2.2 percent from 2.5 percent in the previous month.
Among other sectors, electricity output rose 0.5 percent annually in October, while mining and quarrying output dropped 5.8 percent.
On a monthly basis, industrial production fell 1.0 percent in October, following a 0.3 percent decrease in the previous month.
