India's wholesale prices rose at a slower-than-expected rate in November, data from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry showed on Monday.

The wholesale price index rose 0.58 percent year-on-year in November, after a 0.16 percent increase in October. Economists had expected a 0.84 percent rise. In September, wholesale price inflation was 0.33 percent.

Build up inflation in the financial year was 2.00 percent compared to 4.56 percent in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Food prices was 11.08 percent in November and prices for non-food articles rose 1.93 percent.

Wholesale price inflation based on the WPI Food Index, which combines the prices of food articles and manufactured food products, rose to 9.02 percent in November from 7.65 percent in October.

Meanwhile, fuel and power prices declined 7.32 percent and prices of manufactured products fell 0.84 percent.

On a monthly basis, wholesale prices rose 0.10 percent in November.
