Canada GDP data for December is due at 8:30 am ET Friday. Ahead of the data, the loonie traded mixed against its major rivals. While the loonie rose against the euro, it held steady against the rest of major rivals.
The loonie was worth 1.3440 against the greenback, 80.84 against the yen, 1.4748 against the euro and 0.8741 against the aussie at 8:25 am ET.
