At 2.00 am ET Friday, the Office for National Statistics releases UK retail sales data. Economists forecast retail sales to fall 4 percent on month in March, following a 0.3 percent drop in February.
Ahead of the data, the pound retreated from its early highs against its major rivals.
The pound was worth 1.2333 against the greenback, 132.78 against the yen, 1.2057 against the franc and 0.8725 against the euro as of 1:55 am ET.
