The unemployment rate in New Zealand came in at a seasonally adjusted 4.0 percent in the second quarter of 2020, Statistics New Zealand said on Wednesday.
That was down from 4.2 percent in the three months prior and well shy of expectations for 5.8 percent.
The employment change showed a loss of 0.4 percent on quarter versus expectations for a drop of 2.0 percent following the 1.0 percent increase in the previous three months.
The participation rate came in at 69.7 percent, missing forecasts for 69.8 percent and down from 70.5 percent in the first quarter.
