At 2.00 am ET Friday, the Office for National Statistics has released UK retail sales data. The pound retreated from its early highs against its major rivals after the data.
The pound was trading at 1.3241 against the greenback, 139.79 against the yen, 1.1998 against the franc and 0.8970 against the euro around 2:03 am ET.
