At 4.00 am ET Tuesday, Germany's ifo business confidence survey results are due. Economists forecast the business climate indicator to rise to 92.2 in August from 90.5 in July.
Ahead of the data, the euro spiked up against its major counterparts.
The euro was worth 1.1821 against the greenback, 125.51 against the yen, 1.0757 against the franc and 0.9024 against the pound as of 3:55 am ET.
