Canada GDP data for August is due at 8:30 am ET Friday. Ahead of the data, the loonie held steady against the aussie, but climbed against the rest of major rivals.
The loonie was worth 1.5554 against the euro, 0.9372 against the aussie, 1.3309 against the greenback and 78.47 against the yen at 8:25 am ET.
